Use a poll when contributors should choose from a defined set of options. Use a normal question when you want an open written response.
Open the question bank or the customization for an upcoming or in-progress Issue.
Choose Create Poll.
Write a clear poll title.
Add at least two answer options; the poll supports up to ten options.
Choose whether a contributor can select more than one answer.
Choose how the question author should appear from the attribution options shown.
Save the poll and confirm it is selected for the intended location.
Me shows the creator's member name as the author.
Anonymous shows the question as asked by Someone.
Letterloop presents the question without personal author information.
Note: Question-author attribution describes who asked the poll. It should not be interpreted as a promise that every member's poll answer is anonymous.
A poll saved to the question bank can be reused in future Issues. A poll added during upcoming customization is selected for the next Issue. A poll added to an in-progress Issue becomes part of the live prompt set, so communicate the change if contributors have already begun.
Make options mutually clear.
Avoid two options that mean nearly the same thing.
Turn off multiple answers when the group should choose exactly one.
Review spelling because changing a live poll can confuse existing responses.
